*Note* ANYONE CAN JOIN THIS CLASS FROM ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. The class we be lead via Skype by Christopher Lee, anyone can join us from Skype :)
Description:
What does it mean to speak of a racial imaginary or a queer imaginary?
Inspired by Claudia Rankine's "The Racial Imaginary," this class will study the crucial work of queer artists of color, centering their contributions to anti-war, anti-racist, and anti-fascist radical movements. Linking political practice with essayistic and art practice can help to lay an intellectual and material groundwork for transnational solidarity and community outreach, serving as entry points to more complex discussions of race, sexuality, state violence, and surveillance.By situating activist and aesthetic imaginaries in tandem, this class will also create space for all participants to collectively produce an archival intervention.
